Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
